Scot council sends offer of support

A SCOTTISH council has offered practical support to the people of Omagh.
East Renfewshire Council convenor, Owen Taylor, said the shock and horror of the bomb massacre had reverberated around the world.
"It is felt more than keenly in our community which, like so many parts of the West of Scotland, has close familial, social and cultural ties with all sections of the Northern Ireland community," he said.
In a letter to Sinn Fein chairman of Omagh Council, Sean Clarke, the council offered any immediate or longer term assistance, including "administrative, caring or educational" support.
Provost Alan Steele said: "It would be more helpful to both the council and to the Omagh community, if we wait to find out what sort of help would be most useful and welcome.
"People are still in shock in Omagh and setting up a disaster fund, for example, may take some time."
