FIVE HELD OVER BOMBING
Five still held over bombing
FIVE people arrested in connection with the Omagh bombing were still being questioned by police today.
The five, who include the teenage son of local councillor and 32 County Sovereignty Committee member Francie Mackey, were arrested yesterday morning.
Mr Mackey has "categorically rejected" accusations that the 32-County Sovereignty Committee were connected with the bombing.
He has accused the RUC of arresting his teenage son Shane because of his own political stance as an opponent of the peace process.
Meanwhile, gardai in the Republic have set up an incident centre in the Co Monaghan town of Carrickmacross in an effort to spearhead a hunt for the Omagh bombers in the border region.
It was in Carrickmacross that the maroon Vauxhall Cavalier car used in the bombing was stolen.
Chief Superintendent Colm Rooney said they were appealing to the public to give any information which might help pinpoint the movements of the vehicle after it was taken.
