SINN FEIN IN TV PULL-OUT

Sinn Fein in TV pull-out

SINN Fein today explained why it pulled out of an RTE programme broadcast from Omagh.
The party's northern publicity director Jim Gibney said Sinn Fein said it feared last night's programme could become insensitive to the relatives of the victims.
Mr Gibney said: "The decision to withdraw was due to concern that the programme could degenerate into a party political pointscoring exercise which would be insensitive to the feelings of the relatives of those who lost their lives and those still recovering in hospital."
Sinn Fein MP Martin McGuinness also reportedly withdrew from a Radio Five Alive programme to attend an "important meeting."
