Car used in attack came from South

POLICE confirmed today that the car which carried the Omagh bomb had been stolen near Dundalk - another strong indication that the so-called Real IRA was behind the massacre.
The maroon Vauxhall Cavalier, which was registered in Co Donegal, was stolen last Thursday in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.
The village is about 15 miles from Dundalk, where the Real IRA's leadership is believed to be based.
Carrickmacross is also in the border area where the gang is believed to have set up secret bomb factories.
Gardai have repeatedly intercepted Real IRA bombs before they have been planted, but have been unable to pinpoint locations where the devices have been made.
Co-operation between the Real IRA, the Continuity IRA and the INLA has stretched the network of dissident republicans, and made it harder for the security forces to monitor their movements.
The RUC said the car used in the Omagh attack originally bore the registration 91 DL 2554, but is believed to have been fitted with a false number plate before being primed with explosives.
Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen the car in the days before the bombing, to contact Omagh detectives on 01662 246177 or 0800 555111.
