Bloody Friday - July 21, 1972- Eleven people killed and 130 injured when the Provisional IRA set off 26 bombs in Belfast
McGurk's Bar - December 4, 1971 - UVF no warning bomb in the Catholic New Lodge area of Belfast kills 15.
Warrenpoint Massacre - August 27, 1979- Eighteen soldiers killed on a Bank Holiday Monday by two bombs near the Co Down seaside resort.
Lord Mountbatten was killed a few hours earlier when an IRA bomb blew apart his fishing boat off the coast of Co Sligo in the Irish Republic.
Ballykelly Bombing - December 6, 1982 - An Irish National Liberation Army bomb destroyed the Droppin Well bar killing 17 people, 11 of them soldiers.
Newry Mortar Attack - February 28, 1985- Nine RUC members killed when the IRA mortar-bombed the town's RUC station.
Remembrance Day Massacre - November 11, 1987- Eleven killed and 63 injured when IRA bombed a Remembrance Day service at Enniskillen.
Milltown Massacre, Belfast - March 16, 1988- Three killed and 50 injured in gun and grenade attack by a loyalist fanatic on mourners at funeral of the three IRA members shot dead by the SAS in Gibraltar.
Three days later, two off-duty soldiers were beaten by a mob and shot by the IRA after their car was blocked by the funeral procession of one of the Milltown victims.
Fun Run Bombing - June 15, 1988- Six soldiers blown up after taking part in a charity fun run in Lisburn.
Ballygawley Bombing - August 20, 1988- Eight young soldiers killed and 27 injured when the IRA blew up the bus taking them back to base after leave in England.
Musgrave Park Hospital Bombing - November 2, 1991 - Two soldiers killed by 20lb Semtex bomb at a military hospital in Belfast.
Teebane Cross Massacre - January 17, 1992- Eight Protestants killed by an IRA bomb after leaving work at an Army base near Cookstown.
Betting Shop Massacre - February 5, 1992 - Five Catholics shot dead in a Belfast betting shop by UFF gunmen in revenge for the previous month's bombing.
Shankill Road Bombing - October 23, 1993- Ten people, including a seven-year-old girl and her mother and a 13-year-old schoolgirl, killed by a bomb in a Belfast fish shop. Thomas Begley, one of the two IRA terrorists who planted the bomb, was also among the dead.
Greysteel Massacre - October 30, 1993- Six Catholics and a Protestant were killed when UFF gunmen sprayed the Rising Sun bar in Greysteel, County Londonderry, on Hallowe'en night.
Loughinisland Massacre - June 18, 1994 - Six Catholics shot dead by UVF gunman in O'Toole's pub in Downpatrick.
Ballymoney Firebomb Attack - July 12, 1998-Three young brothers were killed in a firebomb attack on their home in Ballymoney during the Drumcree crisis.
