THE death toll from the Omagh bombing remained at 28 today.
Twenty seven victims have been formally identified, the RUC confirmed.
It is understood a number of body parts have yet to be matched to identified victims, and police fear the death toll may rise.
Hospitals throughout the province are dealing with 108 injured. Eight of them are described as "critical" and two "seriously ill".
An RUC spokesman said it was difficult to put a figure on the number of people reported missing.
"We have received hundreds of calls from people, not only in Northern Ireland but throughout the UK and further afield who are concerned about people.
A lot of these people don't ring us back when they make contact with their relatives, which means we cannot adjust our figures accordingly.
We would appeal for anyone who has since made contact with the relatives they were concerned about to telephone the Police Casualty Bureau again to let us know," he said.
